For toning, weight train 3 to 4 times a week by lifting light weights with high repetitions. If you can’t make it to atleast 20 (max 25), lower the weight so that you can. Lifting heavy weights at low reps will gain muscle. Cardio (30 mins 3 to 4 times/week) will help burn fat to expose your toned mucles. Good luck and have fun in highschool, they will be the best and worst years of your life!

I have noticed people saying. If you want to tone then do high reps. That is all CRAP. First of all women practically cannot gain muscle they can only gain a very slight amount with extremely frequent and intense training over a very long period of time.
Definition of a toned body is tight muscles and low body fat so you can see them. I really dont have time to get deep in discusion over it but when you lift heavy wieghts it activates the stretch reflex. Meaning that the body recognises that the weight is very. In the muscle we have muscles spindles that run paralell with the muscle fibres. When you lift a heavy weith the body feels like the weight might cause the muscle to stretch and tear so it activates the stretch reflex any time it feels in danger. After say two weeks of heavy weight traing the body thinks “well if we are always going to be lifting heavy wieghts then im always going to be ready for it” So the muscle spindles are always at a ready giving a tight look and feeling to them.
If anyone has trained heavy before they will notice that thier muscles become hard when flexed. If they have a break from the gym even when flexed they go soft. Thats that body relaxing the muscle spindles as it doesnt feel the need to be at the ready anymore.
